Fushigi Yûgi: Genbu Kaiden, Vol. 1 is the beginning of a fantasy adventure manga set in the same mystical universe as the classic Fushigi Yûgi series. The story follows Takiko Okuda, a young girl living in early 20th-century Japan who discovers a mysterious ancient book written by her father.

When Takiko reads the book, she is transported into a magical world inspired by Chinese mythology. There, she learns she is destined to become the Priestess of Genbu, a chosen guardian who must gather seven celestial warriors to protect a kingdom and fulfill an ancient prophecy.

As Takiko begins her journey, she encounters powerful allies, dangerous enemies, and a destiny that will test her courage, loyalty, and heart. The manga blends fantasy, romance, mythology, and adventure with beautiful shojo-style artwork and emotional storytelling.
